This is one of the many iconic piers in San Diego that everyone should have in their portfolio......and most do! Just because a spot has been shot many times before, don't let this deter you from shooting it. Everyone has a different style of composition and editing. Also, the sky is never the same, so your image will always be different from others. You can also try different shutter speeds to give the water a different look.

PHOTO TIP - SHOOTING PIERS: 1) Use a wide-angle lens. 2) Always use a cable release and tripod for sharp images and to allow you to use longer shutter speeds. 3) Bring polarizing and ND filters. 4) Shoot on days when it is partly cloudy to add more interest and color to the sky. 5) Shoot at sunrise or sunset for the best light. 6) Try different shutter speeds to vary the look of the water. 7) Look for different compositions and vary the height of your tripod. 8) Check the tide chart to determine if it is coming in or going out. 9) Wipe/Rinse all of the salt water off of your gear.
